Surfing Instructor - Richie

Richie
is our resort manager in Fuerteventura,
a hugely experienced windsurfer with top class credentials...

Windsurfing - 12 years
Kitesurfing - 7 years
Surfing - 7 years

Richie's been all over the place, surfing and sailing around Ireland, Greece, Croatia, Margarita, Dominican Republic, Australia... but it's Fuerte that he's decided to call home! Richie has passed the following qualifications...

RYA Windsurf level 5 instructor
IKO Kitesurf level 2 instructor
SLSA Beach Lifeguard
Powerboat level 2
Official Guinness technician

Richie's been teaching full time for 10 years now, of which
the last 4 have been with Extreme. He can also be found wakeboarding, scuba diving, and all the other stuff you'd
expect from a true ol' sea dog!

Surfing Instructor - Dom

Dom
is a multi-skilled, multi-talented professional. His past qualifications include Surfing, Diving and Rescue/Medical qualifications, and also BASI Snowboard level 3 instructing and Mountain Rescue qualifications.
A dedicated surfer and snowboarder for well over a decade he has 9 years of teaching experience, and doubles up as our resort manager in Davos over the winter season where he can be found corking 5's, pulling the most stylishly huge backside 180 methods, and having unfortunate accidents on sledges!

Dom's surfed and ridden the world, with many a trip to New Zealand, South and Central America, the South Pacific Islands, Morrocco, and pretty much everywhere in Europe with a coast or a mountain.

On the rare occasions when he's not on a board of some sort Dom enjoys his MotoX bike, often joining Tam on epic sessions around Fuerte's varied landscape.

Eurico

Eurico has been surfing for 22 years.  He’s rated 4th in Portugal, and 14th in Europe. He's Portugal's ex 'Longboard Champion' and 'WQS Tour Veteran'. In a nutshell, if you want to dig deep into the soul of surfing, he’s your guy!    Deeply passionate about surfing, his proudest moment is a 10-point ride in Puerto Escondido in 8 to 10 foot barrels.  Impressive!

Travel is another passion of Eurico’s – he has journeyed to New Zealand, Fiji, South Africa, Spain, France, the Canary Islands, Cape Verde, Madeira, Mozambique, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, USA, Costa Rica, Morrocco, Indonesia…..so not only can he teach you all about surfing, he’s got some stories to tell to keep you amused!

Eurico’s been teaching since 1999 but only joined Extreme this year to launch our Portugal resort.  When he’s not instructing/riding, you can find him DJing and enjoying his love of music, spear fishing, football, cooking, red wine and poker (the guy’s allowed to have a couple of vices!)

Eurico is laid back and very friendly and waiting to welcome you to his lifelong passion for surfing!

Surfing Instructor - Lol

Meet Lol. Lol's quite a quiet chap, but beneath his calm exterior lurks a hardcore waverider with saltwater in his veins.

Windsurfing - 16 years
Surfing - 5 years

Like the rest of the team Lol's been all over the world to sail and surf, including the famous G-Land in Indonesia! His CV includes the following past achievements:

BSA Surf instructor
RYA Windsurf
instructor
SLSA Beach Lifeguard

Since setting up camp in Fuerteventura many years ago, Lol's got 8 years of instructing under his belt, the last 3 with Extreme, and he knows the island like the top side of his board (see pic).

We asked Lol about his other interests for this bio. He says he doesn't have many, he spends his free time on the water!

Surfing Instructor - Dazza

Dazza has been on the extreme sports scene for decades, with 20 years of skiing to his credit, as well as
6 years of kitesurfing (which he does without foot straps), 10 years of windsurfing (he loves to front loop),
and 3 years of surfing (particularly on longboards). For the last 3 years he's been working for Extreme Holidays, but before that he taught in Greece, the USA, France, England and Spain - another highly experienced individual.

Dazza has many instructor qualifications under his belt - past achievements include IKO Kitesurf level 2 instructor, SLSA qualified lifeguard, and powerboating qualifications.
Additionally, ever since his school days Dazza has always been an all round sportsman and has interests in football, motoX, ice hockey, golf, wakeboarding, sky diving - and is also an SRA level 3 squash instructor.

Surfing Instructor - Sophie

Sophie is the newest addition to our team, and since joining last summer has more than lived up to the hype!

Despite the fact that she is completely fearless, and will push herself to surf waves most mortals wouldn't dare, Sophie's a playful character and enjoys messing around with handstands in the foamies just as much.
Considering she's only been surfing for 5 years, Sophie's not done bad. She's ranked British #5 already, and surfed France, Spain, Portugal, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, the Maldives, Morocco, Sri Lanka and even New York!
She now holds a number of sponsorship deals.

Sophie has been awarded a BSA Surf level 1 instructor licence, NARS beach lifeguard qualifications, and a CASI Level 3 snowboard instructing qualification as well (she started out as a snowboarder, and has taught across the U.S.)

Hobbies and interests : Good books, foreign films, and chess.

Ant's
made a big impression since joining
Extreme Holidays - he can't stop snapping surfboards!
That's the real reason our kit's so new and fresh.

Ant's the youngest member of the Extreme Team,
but despite that he's surfed for over 7 years, and has passed stacks of qualifications already...

BSA Surf level 1 instructor
IKO Kitesurf level 2 instructor
NARS Beach L
ifeguard
Powerboat level 2
Dinghy/Kayak/Bayskipper qualifications

Off the beach Ant loves MotoX, mountain boarding,
and some crazy combinations of the two... Unfortunately, Extreme Holidays doesn't offer this
as a set sport at this time!

Surfing Instructor - Ant

Surfing Instructor - Lee

Lee's been on the pro scene for years and is professionally qualified to instruct pretty much any extreme sport you could care to name - literally. He's been everywhere, he's done everything, and he's won or placed highly in more international competitions then we have space to write about here - after becoming the British Snowboard Champion (Big Air) Lee decided to take up Kitesurfing - and within 5 months was ranked #5 in the UK!

In addition to his BASI Snowboard instructor qualifications, Lee's a SLSA Beach Lifeguard, an RYA Windsurf
level 5 instructor and an IKO Kitesurf level 2 instructor for us in Fuerteventura.

Interesting fact - during his time in South America, Lee picked up some pretty fancy Salsa dancing skills!

Stav’s been an instructor for 18 years so you’re in safe hands. Windsurfing has been his lifelong sport of choice, but he’s also been kitesurfing for 6 years, snowboarding for 13 years and paragliding for 2 years.

Stav's past qualifications include:

  • Windsurfing – RYA Level 5 Sea/Open Water
  • Kitesurfing – IKO Instructor Level 2
  • Snowboard – Basi Level 3

He’s been with Extreme now for just over a year but is already well known in Fuerteventura for his awesome skills on the water, his infectious smile and his reputation for enjoying a boogie at the end of the day!

Stav’s family background includes a love of the Ocean and a lot of good fortune! His great-grandfather, employed as a croupier on the Titanic, missed the grand launch of the ship due to an overrunning gambling match! Best bit of luck he ever had!

If Ross hasn’t been there, it ain’t worth going to! He’s seen surfing action all over GB, Ireland, Europe, New Zealand, Costa Rica, Indonesia and has boarded the giddy heights of France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Scotland, Colorado, and wait for it…Bodmin Moor!

A snowboarder of 11 years and a surfer of 9, he knows his stuff. The long list of sporting qualifications he has achieved include BASI snowboard instructor, BSA Level 1 Surf Instructor, NARS beach lifeguard, PADI Rescue Diver & LTA Tennis Coach! And with an MSc in Bioinformatics, he's certainly not short of the old grey matter.

Ross plays tennis, rugby & football in his spare time, but his big passion is Motocross, in which he specialises in....falling off. Stick to the waves and powder in future, eh Ross?!

Ross

Jed

Jed is full of Geordie charm and brings 10 years surf coaching experience to Extreme.  He’s been surfing for 13 years and snowboarding for 7.  He’s our regular Baywatch hero – he spent five years as a Senior Lifeguard both on beaches and indoors and as a NARS beach lifeguard.

Jed has achieved his BSA Level 2.  A bit of a legend among our surfing instructors, he has been sponsored in the past by Local Hero, Bunty and Alder.

Alex completed the National Certificate in Surfing Studies in 2001 so knows a thing or two about surfing.  Born and bred in Cornwall, he has surfed his whole life and coached since he was old enough to work.

Alex has travelled the world surfing both competitively and for pleasure.  He’s visited California, Hawaii, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Morrocco, Portugal, France, Ireland, Wales and all over the coastline of England.

Qualifications include BSA Level 4 and SLSA Surf Lifesaving Award, so you could not be in better hands than with our Alex.  He is a regular competitor on the BPA UK tour, so watch out for him on the Extreme channel!

Alex

Donnie

Donnie lives and breathes snowboarding.  He’s been boarding for over 18 years and has passed his BASI Level 3 instructor qualification.

He’s got 5 years instructing behind him.  He has taught at the Snowdome so has had extensive experience coaching beginners.  At the tender age of 25 he has also managed to find the time to get a 2:1 degree and captain the university snowboarding club.  He has won Scottish freestyle and slalom racing events so if tricks and speed are your bag, you’ve found your man to ride beside!

When he’s not riding the white stuff he can be spotted playing the guitar, mountain biking, surfing and cooking.

If there’s a water/winter sport out there, Chris has tried it!  His list of past qualifications include CASI Level 2 Snowboarding, PSIA Level 1 Snowboarding, RYA Level 2 Powerboat, RYA Windsurfing Level 4, BASI surf level 1, NARS beach lifeguard, BCU Kayak 3 star, PADI Advanced Open Water Diving…..the list continues!

Chris has travelled all over  with his love of sports.  Australia, the US, Canada, Switzerland, Spain, France, New Zealand, Greece, Asia and New Zealand – he’s visited them all.

When not in the snow, Chris’ passions are Choi Kwang Do (a Korean martial art) and Scuba Diving.

Jimmy

Jimmy is an full-blooded Aussie (he even has a pet kangaroo called Nibbles) but has decided to call Fuerteventura his home.

He loves instructing and has been doing various instructing jobs for 8 years, ranging from swimming, to fitness, to surfing. His love of surfing has taken him round the homely coast of Oz, to France, Spain, England, Portugal & Indonesia. Heavy waves & getting barrelled are Jimmy’s raison d’etre.

He's achieved Australian Level 1 Surf Coach, a Sea Kayaking Instructor and a Qualified Personal Trainer, having graduated from the Australian Institute of Fitness.

Jimmy’s been surfing for 5 years and has been with Extreme for a year. When he’s not in the water, he’s partial to any sport, in particular Aussie Rules Football, Cricket & Golf.

Let loose with our instructors on a surfing holiday, you will be amazed by your progress!
